Hello! My name is Michelle W., a grateful and recovering alcoholic. I came to The Watershed on September 28, 2016 into the Boca facility from my home town of Baltimore, MD. Prior to The Watershed, my life, like many of us, was completely unmanageable as alcohol had taken over every part of my life. Health, work, social, family, community and more importantly, spirituality. I came here completely spiritually bankrupt, hopeless and mangled.
A few months prior to seeking professional treatment for alcoholism, I was diagnosed with cirrhosis of liver. My eyes and skin were yellow and my health was declining rapidly. Even with this news, I could not control my alcoholic ways on my own, still drinking, still seeking medical help more often than not. Insanity!
Since I have been here at “The Shed”, I have a new hope in life. My faith has been restored and I have found comfort and peace. I have a new family, friends, hope and so much gratitude. I have been truly blessed to have found this place and be clean, sober and serene. Self-pity gets washed away quickly and is replaced with a calm and reflective feeling of so many better things to come. I am grateful every day that I get to help others find a new way of life and am able to share my story of hope.
Michelle W., Clean & Sober since 09/28/2016
