My name is D.J. and I am an addict. On April 18th 2016 I decided I needed to change my way of life. I was beaten and broken down, in a place I never thought I’d be in, let alone my family ever see me in. Drugs and alcohol had taken over my life! The addict inside of me was running at full force and destroying anything and everything in its path. I was miserable, constantly having to find ways and means to get some type of mind-altering substance to help me function with everyday life. I was a very sick individual. My mother called a friend of mine for me that had come through The Watershed back in 2014 looking to get me help. She knew that at one point of his life he was just as sick as me (her youngest son) but after coming to The Watershed had changed his way of life and was getting ready to celebrate 2 yrs clean from any and every mind-altering substance. She was able to reach out to him about what was going on with me and what my life had become. Within minutes of them hanging up the phone my cell phone was ringing with a Watershed employee on the line trying to get me help and into their program as soon as possible. Long story short, I was on a plane that very next morning heading to The Watershed Program, honestly not knowing what to expect and very nervous about being so far away from home.
The Watershed Program has saved my life and helped change my way of thinking. IT had introduced me to a whole new way of life, a life I never dreamed possible for someone that was like me. I no longer have to wake up and find my next fix, let alone wake up and even think about using drugs or alcohol. For the first time in my life I can honestly say I have lost the desire to use a drink or drug and all due to the tools that were given to me through The Watershed program and how they introduced me to a 12-step fellowship of my choosing. The way The Watershed is set up is absolutely amazing; from the impatient part all the way to the halfway/3qrt/sober living part of the program. This program is set up for people to learn how to live life without the use of drugs, but not only drugs, this program can help anyone with the disease of addiction. The thing is, drugs are just the most obvious symptom of our disease. I can be addicted to anything that gives me the rush my disease desires. ANYWAYS, I’ve seen this program work first hand and in so many people’s lives since I’ve been down here already. I recommend this program to any and everyone who thinks they have a problem with addition. The love and support of my peers, and most of all The Watershed staff has been unbelievable. The staff has such a big part of my experience with this program! They are always always always there for me when I need them and are willing to sit down with open ears no matter what I’m dealing with, and if they personally can’t help me with my problem, they can point me in the direction of someone who can! The Watershed program saved my life!!!!!!!!
Thank you Watershed family!
Truly Grateful for the Watershed Program!
Sincerely, DJB. Clean & Sober since 04/19/2016
